kaboodle joins the build at Pukehina Surf Life Club
At kaboodle, community matters. That’s why we’re proud to support the Pukehina Surf Life Club with a heartfelt contribution to their brand new clubhouse – The Motu: a kitchen of this size is valued at approximately $15,000. Complete with kaleo doors and panels, extrude matt black handles and a smooth benchtop in cotton candy – make your own custom kitchen with our 3D planning tool.
why it matters
Pukehina Surf Life Club is building a modern, multi‑purpose clubhouse to serve lifeguards, surfers, and families visiting the beautiful Pukehina Beach. While the facility has been operational for patrols this past season, it is now complete with the “finishing touches” —including a kitchen and bar fit-out —before opening to the wider public.
Our kaboodle kitchen donation means the club can host fundraising events, provide meals during patrols, serve the community during gatherings, and build a true social hub by the shore.
how this supports surf safety & community life
community engagement – Whether it’s a post-race celebration, school boot camp session, or volunteer appreciation event, the kitchen transforms the clubhouse into a welcoming community space for everyone.
fundraising capabilities – With a fully functional kitchen, the club can run bake sales, a cheeky sausage sizzle, and even cooking workshops to help fund the final phase of their build.
a team effort for a worthy cause
This collaboration complements the incredible volunteer effort already underway. Club members and the builder, Andrew McDowell, have invested roughly 600 hours constructing ‘The Motu’—a compact bach-style unit designed to be auctioned, raising funds for the last stretch of the clubhouse. Combined with a $1.3 million grant from Surf Life Saving New Zealand, community goodwill, and fundraising events, Pukehina Surf Life Club is closing in on their goal of a $3.6 million facility.
what's next?
With the kitchen now in place, work will focus on outfitting the bar area and completing final fit‑outs. The clubhouse is expected to be fully open to the public soon—just in time for the busy summer beach season.
from the heart of the surf club
We're thrilled to support the Pukehina Surf Life Club’s vision of a beachfront hub that promotes surf safety, strengthens community connection, and celebrates Kiwi volunteer spirit. Together, kaboodle and Pukehina are building more than just walls—we’re building place and purpose.
