at home with Abbey Holmes

Discover how Abbey Holmes transformed her kitchen and laundry into a beautiful, practical space with kaboodle.

Kaboodle kitchen partnered with AFL superstar Abbey Holmes to renovate her space.

Following her 2017 AFLW premiership win with the Adelaide Crows, Abbey Holmes has gone on to become a familiar face on our screens, both as a trusted AFL expert commentator and as a reality TV personality, with appearances on Survivor and SAS Australia. As if that weren’t enough, Abbey has also launched her own fashion label and recently welcomed her first child. With the demands of a thriving career and frequent interstate travel throughout the footy season, creating a peaceful and welcoming home base became essential for her.

She wanted a space where she could unwind and spend quality time with her husband Keegan and their son, Braxton. Their bayside Melbourne home was ready for a refresh, particularly the kitchen and laundry, which needed reconfiguring to suit their busy, family-oriented lifestyle.

“We spend so much time in the kitchen, so I wanted it to feel bright, functional, and a true reflection of our lifestyle”, Abbey says. “Between work, Brax, and everything in between, I needed something practical but still beautiful. The laundry was the same; it just needed a little love and warmth to help make everyday life run a bit smoother.”

When it came to cabinetry, Abbey was drawn to a warm, timeless look that complemented the rest of the home’s coastal-inspired palette.

“The oak latte doors and panels just felt like us. They bring a beautiful, natural tone to the space and I love the gentle softness of the colour. It’s not too light, still grounded and really homely.”

Abbey and Keegan designed their new kitchen and laundry using the kaboodle 3D planner, a tool that made the entire process more enjoyable and stress-free.

“The 3D planner was a total game changer,” Abbey explains. “I’m a really visual person, so being able to see exactly how everything would look before we started made all the difference. It gave me so much confidence in the decisions we were making and it was actually a lot of fun experimenting with different layouts and finishes.”

The result? A kitchen and laundry that don’t just look beautiful, but have completely transformed the way their home functions.

“It’s changed the way we live in our home. I genuinely enjoy spending time in the kitchen now. It’s become a space where we hang out as a family, and it’s perfect for entertaining too. I love having friends over, cooking up a meal, and just enjoying the relaxed open vibe.
