One popular use of kickboards is to create wall shelves that tie in with the colour of your wall cabinet doors.

These shallow shelves (145mm) can be made to almost any shape and size and are perfect for a bit of added storage at the back of a bench area or for decorating an empty wall in your kitchen. You could also use our kickboards to create a wall planter that will bring a touch of nature to your kitchen area or allow you to have fresh herbs close at hand.

How to do it yourself

To form a neat corner using cut kickboards, you will need to use a mitre joint to retain the coloured vinyl coating. This joint can be fixed using your preferred choice of internal fastener such as biscuits or dowels. A handy tool for creating mitre joints is a dowelling jig which can be purchased at Bunnings.

It is important to remember that the back of our kickboards are not coloured, so any creation needs to be designed accordingly, with the back of the kickboard hidden from view. In the case of kitchen shelves this can be achieved by positioning the panels so that the blank face is facing up or down – away from your line of sight, or by using the kickboards either back to back or mounted to another substrate.
